MySpace/Facebook
MySpace and Facebook are online social networks that connect multiple users over the internet. MySpace became the most popular social networking website in June 2006 and stayed that way until April 2008 when Facebook overtook its spot. MySpace was created by Tom Anderson and Facebook was created by Mark Zuckerberg.
Both these online social networks can be of use for business, social, entertainment, news, and recreational purposes. Facebook and MySpace gives you the opportunity to interact with friends which you can communicate with. If used for your business these sites can help you monitor and get to know your employers and bosses better. Also it can support your business by creating fan pages and having other users of Facebook view your fan page. Facebook and MySpace are called “social networks” so of course they contribute to your social life. You have friends on both these sites; you can request people as well as have people request you. You interact with these people by viewing their profiles, writing on each others wall, viewing pictures, sharing pictures, and many other forms of communication. Many people form new relationships over Facebook and rekindle old ones. Recreational purposes for these websites are the reasons why many people are users. Facebook and MySpace consume a lot of time and there are many things you can do on both of these websites. It is a fast, easy, and convenient form of communication. Also it can be used for fun if you are playing games pr just viewing pictures of videos. Although the many upsides of both these sites, there are also many downfalls. Both these sites can be abused by bullies and there are always many forms of online bullying. People have more confidence saying mean things over the internet than they do in person and people tend to get hurt. Also Facebook and MySpace open the opportunities for strangers to meet. People can pretend to be someone else than who they really are and this can cause extreme danger and other problems.

LinkedIn can help you in multiple ways in your everyday lifestyle. For example LinkedIn can help you with your business, social life, and everyday news. Your business can profit from LinkedIn because employers can list jobs and search for potential candidates, job seekers can look over profiles of hiring managers. When you find a job that interests you, you can bookmark that job and find connections to link you to the manager. Socially LinkedIn can get you to know you future coworkers and employers. On this website you can post your own photos as well as view other people’s photos this can get you more acquainted with fellow job seekers and mangers. Also you have a contact list of people which are called “Connections.” For news LinkedIn can show you which businesses are doing potentially well and which ones are not. Also it shows you the open job opportunities just like the “Help Wanted” ads in the paper. This website helps you eliminate the time it takes to check the paper every morning and just have all your opportunities right there in front of your face.
Downfalls of LinkedIn are that if you make any foolish mistake, comment, or joke on it, it can all be connected back to your job. From this you can receive consequences of what you say on the internet and it can be seen by your employers and coworkers. Nothing is safe on the internet especially on this website where everything can be viewed by your work or future company.

Twitter is an online social network that enables its users to send and read messages called “tweets.” Tweets are text post by the user under 140 characters. One user can subscribe to see multiple people’s tweets as well as have their own followers to send tweets to. Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey and launched in July. Twitter soon became a world wide phenomena and it is estimated to have over 200 million users.
Twitter can be useful for business, social, news, entertainment, and recreational use. For example a boss of a company can have a twitter and tweet to his workers what their job for the day is. Also he can send out tweets to customers of his product to promote sales. Socials twitter can be used to communicate between friends and you can interact with other people on twitter and become friendly with them. The bad thing about this is that you might meet someone over twitter that is not as nice as you expected them to be. News can also be spread because of this social network. If one person shares news of something others can see and also post it. This makes news travel fast from user to user. Twitter is a great site for entertainment as well. For example many celebrities have twitters where they post news about themselves, other people, and upcoming works. Their fans follow them and receive their tweets and get updated on their lives. For recreational use twitter can be used to spread jokes, personal news, notes, and anything else you want. Although Twitter can be a cool place to follow and update it can also be abused. For example if people are updating saying mean things it could cause fights and other unnecessary things.

Blogging over the years has become a very popular and well liked way to view and share news. A blog is a website where an individual can post news on a particular subject or on other personal matters. A blog allows other bloggers to leave comments and message other bloggers. In 1998 websites started popping up called “blogs.” At first they were called “weblogs” by Jorn Barger in 1997 but soon got shorten to blogs.
A blog is a way to share multiple things such as text, pictures, videos, links, and others. This can affect business, social, entertainment, news, and recreational functionality. Socially a blog can help you interact with other bloggers and comment and receive comments on your posts. Also you can message bloggers to talk and form links between two or more blogs. This can also form rivalries between blogs because of which blogs get viewed and commented on more. Businesses can also use blogs as a form of communication to there customers as well as there workers. Blogs are also a good way to spread current and past forms of entertainment such as videos, pictures, and others. You can post videos to your blog to show your viewers and if they like what they see they can give you feedback. News is a common thing to be spread over blogs weather it be personal news or worldwide. A mother can share news on her newborn child and a reporter can share news on a tragedy in a 3rd world country. Any one can use a blog for recreational use to post whatever they may please and get the opinion of other bloggers. There can always be negative feedback that comes off a blogs posts but there can also be positive. Certain bloggers might abuse the opportunity to blog by posting mean and horrible things and say crude comments to other bloggers but that can happen with any online website.
